  1. Thanks I am going to look in to this option more carefully
  2. I have been using a MacBook Pro 15 inch Late 2011 (2.5 GHz Intel Core i7 8GB 1333 MHz DDR) for the past 3 years. This is the computer my work gave me. I layout print working with InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator and also code for apps using xCode. Due to cut backs the upgarde that work is offering is a new MacBook Pro 13-inch: 2.4GHz with Retina display 2.4GHz dual-core Intel Core i5 - Turbo Boost up to 2.9GHz - 8GB 1600MHz memory 256GB PCIe-based flash storage My old machine has 750GB spinning drive and the new has only 256 though it is SD Though I already have a firewire external drive of 1TB. I also use a second monitor both at work and home so the screen size isn't an issue. Should I take the new Mac or get them to substitute the DVD with the solid state drive, if they'll let me
  3. I have been drawing with my finger on both my iPad and iPhone using the Brushes App for a while now, (which by the way I highly recommend). I really want to try using a stylus. There are so many out there. Can anybody suggest a good one? It needs to be sensitive and not have too big a tip so I can see what I am drawing.
  4. No. The iPhone before tax in the UK apple store costs £424.68 = 509.148 EUR. On any other apple Eu store the cost before tax is €549,17 There is only a 2.5% difference in the VAT or its equivalent which should mean a difference in price of about 13 EUR after tax, not 59 EUR.
  5. The 3G is doing a little better. I admit I still have spotlight turned on just for my contacts this combined with that latest upgrade has made things better. I have resigned myself to the fact that I need to get the new iPhone. It's now available in Italy though as I am visiting the UK in ten days I'll get it there. For some unexplainable reason it costs 60 euro more in Euroland than in Britain. Apple continues to treat its European costumers like mugs. Sorry if I gripe.
  6. I must try that sounds too good to be true Thanks
  7. Wow thank you.I should have Googled it myself. It's not so straight forward though. I think I might wait until I have my new phone and then give it a go so at least it doesn't matter if I brick one of the phones. Thanks again
  8. I have 2 iPhones, one 3G and one 3Gs. I want to go back to the old 3.0.1 as both phones are working so slowly I couldn't care less about the new features, I'll wait for my new phone when it's available in Italy to enjoy them fully. Is there any way back?
  9. I have just got going with a new MacBookPro. I have imported all the mail from my old mac (10.4) by replacing the folders in my library. The computer is great though Mail is not behaving very well. It often refuses quit and never quits if I try to logout. I am also having problems saving attachments. I can only download attachments using right click and not the save button. I want to try re-installing just the mail program. How do I do this?
  10. Easy as pie Thanks so much
  11. I think I am missing something I have got a spanking new MacbookPro and I want to transfer all my mail archive across. I have a superdooper back up but when i use migration assistance it wants to transfer my whole account. I am installing everthing from zero and don't want anything except my mail archive and filters. I don't seem to be able to be so specific. Am I missing something?
  12. I have read the news that we can buy an unlocked iPhone from Orange in France. It seems to be about 650 euro for the phone and 100 euro to unlock it, the total of 750 euro is frankly still over the top. Consider I currently live and work in Rome where it seems to be easier to change the government than get a deal worked out between the phone companies and Apple. Given the current exchange rates I am considering having a friend bring a phone across the pond for me and then unlocking it. I would save almost 30%. Not bad. What I want to know is can I go to France with my US acquired iPhone and get it officially unlocked for 100 euro? Seems too easy.
  13. Oops I see
  14. I live in Italy but buy from the UK iTunes Store as its stock is far better. My way around this was to get a friend in the London to buy an iTunes Card for me which I top up by transfering money to him when I need to. Long winded but it works.
