So I just read that Apple is working on new Mac vs. PC ads, but that Justin Long is no longer in them. So lets take some guesses at who his replacement may be. I'll take a first crack...

The PC guy should become the new Mac guy to demonstrate the switcher phenomenon.

I'd vote for Matthew Gray Gubler, who plays the young genius on CBS' show "Criminal Minds"

I also like the idea of having John Hodgeman become a switcher... That would be hilarious!

Zach Braff!!
Maybe he'll take some time between Scrubbs shottings to amke new commercials.
He would be perfect!

He is creative, he makes movies, he produces music videos and he can wear messy hair and a t-shirt like no other!

John Krasinski would be cool for the Mac guy.
Oh... but if that were the case, I'd like to see Rainn Wilson as the PC guy.

I think the next Mac will be a woman. It will be easier for Apple to explain getting rid of the current guy that way, it seems to me.

By the way, in the last MacCast Adam seemed to be under the impression that it was Justin Long who dumped Apple. From what I've read, it was the other way round. It seems a lot of people thought the Mac guy was smug and the PC guy was nice (if a loser). I kind of feel bad for Long, actually. I thought he was good.

After the last advertisement for Mac coming from Rose I seriously doubt he would be a consideration. You also have to consider his background with The Broken and so on as well as his presence in the tech world (being whoever he now says he is at Digg, Revision3 and all)... He may have the look but he's just not Apple enough.

Getting there, so one day maybe...

I agree completely. John Hodman (sp?) is a big Mac fan in reallity and him switching would be a great couple of ads in themselves.

I vote for Cali Lewis from GeekBrief. She would bring that "Oh My God...look what I can do" bubbliness to the commercials. http://geekbriefwp.podshow.com/

I'll second the vote for Veronica Belmont. Since Macs are gorgeous pieces of hardware, she would be the perfect Mac. :)

My vote goes to Daniel Craig (James Bond) or Hugh Jackman (Wolverine), that way we can see how mac beats the cr@p out of PC. :D

Maybe they can put together some mini 2 minute movies.

OR, if you want girls, I reckon making bad ass Angelina Jolie the mac and the "good little girl next door" Jennifer Anniston the PC. :P

I think that it should be Ryan Renolds...although Mac Man Pro had a good one with Kevin Rose. That would be hilarious.

If we're dreaming then I vote for a well known computer geek who I believe is an avid Apple user.

so it looks like Justin is still doing the mac commercials:

(from justin's web page, posted early today)

"as for the mac commercials, i don't know where that report came from that said i wasn't going to do anymore - i literally setting my alarm right now to wake up for a mac shoot tomorrow - if i'm not doing anymore i guess i can sleep in on my day off - that'd be nice. but yeah, we're doing some holiday spots now which i think will be pretty funny - not nearly funny enough to justifiy the money they're paying me though, i'll be honest with you. as for the future, i really don't know what i'm going to do - i'm surprised, frankly, that the campaign hasn't become tired and they've just ended it on their own - but i try to live as much in the present as i can considering the future doesn't exist, i'm not really sure. they're easy to do, i love john (the pc guy) and working with him is so effortless and fun that i definitely wouldn't rule out doing some more - and, as i said, they pay us nicely. i don't know - all of this is such unchartered territory for me that i'm just kind of holding on to my seat and hope i don't fall off anytime soon. thanks for reading this and be sure to sign the petition that been online for "the sasquatch dumpling gang" - its a good movie and it's kind of getting screwed over by the studio that owns it now - let them know you want them to release it properly - it something i'm really proud to have been a part of (in a different way than i'd be proud to be in "halloween 15"). thanks everyone for letting me get in that shameless plug. justin "

Well it looks like the mac guy is back in the saddle.
And seeing as he is not going anywhere, I think he rocks. Can't wait to see the holiday "get a mac" ads. :D
