  1. Apple® and Creative Technology, Ltd. today announced a broad settlement ending all legal disputes between the two companies. Apple will pay Creative $100 million for a paid-up license to use Creative's recently awarded patent in all Apple products. Apple can recoup a portion of its payment if Creative is successful in licensing this patent to others. In addition, the companies announced that Creative has joined Apple's "Made for iPod" program and will be announcing their own iPod® accessory products later this year. http://www.apple.com/pr/library/2006/aug/23settlement.html "Creative is very fortunate to have been granted this early patent," said Steve Jobs, Apple's CEO. Jobs doesn't sound pissed at all. Guess the Apple legal team figured they couldn't win... or it was not worth it to fight.

    Confused about Parallels’

with Boot Camp, you either boot into OS X or into Windows... one or the other. With Parallel's, you boot into OS X and run windows in a window (har har).
  3. Apple has made .Mac public folder access much easier with the latest update to their .Mac service. Apple says, “We’re pleased to announce a new simpler way to access iDisk Public folders with a browser. Simply entering the URL idisk.mac.com/membername-Public now produces a page that automatically includes download links for whatever’s currently in membername’s Public folder. All you need to do is give the URL for your iDisk Public folder to the friends and colleagues you share with. They’ll see and be able to download whatever you put in there, whenever they visit the page.”

    AIM on Mac

iChat is compatible with the AIM protocol. I use iChat and talk to all my friends that are on AIM.

    iSight problems

I wouldn't call it an 'iSight problem' as the problem is with MSN Messenger not supporting video on the Mac. You can use iChat and your friend can use AIM if you two really want to do video.

To seel or to keep my cd collection

Then what about used cd shops? They aren't poplular anymore, but that should have been illegal as well. The shop itself isn't doing anything illegal. When they sell a cd, they don't have any copies they made from the one they sold. The people who sell CDs to the store, however, may or may not have copies of what they sold. And if they do have copies of what they sold, then it's illegal for the seller, not the store.

if you can't move the computer to the room, move the room to the computer.
  12. I agree with Goatman. It's not like Intel is ripping us off. They're not advertising it or anything. So to think of it another way, Intel is giving us more than we thought... like buying a 240hp car, but with a flip of hidden switch, will give you 340.

To seel or to keep my cd collection

Yes, it is illegal if you sell the cds but keep their digital copies. That's why you can't buy software and return it opened. They just won't let you. So don't go thinking it's not illegal. In any case, if you want to make sure you don't lose your digital copies, backup to several locations.. that's the only way.
  14. Why? Cuz we can. People do things because they can... Why climb Mt everest? Why swim across the english channel? why go hot air ballooning around the world? Okay, so speculating about apple products doesn't even compare, but my point is the same.
  15. Apple probably already knew about this before they made the switch... and switched anyway.
