    Crazy Mac Pro Problem!

Right now I can run the mac pro in target disk mode so is there a way to run any kind of diagnostic software on the mac pro using target disk mode? I can boot to the mac pro's drive and see it's desktop and icons when it's in target disk mode but when I click "about this mac" I see my iMac's stats. What should I do?

    Crazy Mac Pro Problem!

So faulty ram would cut the screen out? A little more information was that the Mac Pro was working great with the new video card for a little while (like a few days). Then the machine just froze and when my friend tried to boot it back up he got nothing on the screen. I'll run the test disk and try to see what it give me. Thanks for the help.

    Crazy Mac Pro Problem!

Ok, so I'm helping a friend work on Mac Pro and I can't figure out what's going on. At first he was having video card problems because it was booting to weird lines. So we replaced the video card with an exact Nvidia card. Everything went fine at first. It booted up fine and the screen looked great. I even reinstalled Mac OS X and it went fine. About a week later the video just goes out. I have tried everything. I unplugged everything and then replugged everything back in, I've reseated the video card, I've reseated the ram and I've zapped the pram. Still no screen. I've booted the mac pro to target disk mode and I can boot to the Mac Pro that way. So does that mean the logic board is ok? Thanks ahead of time.

    Mac Pro G5 Video Problem?

I checked the ram by removing a single ram stick and testing the Mac Pro G5 and the video problem persisted. So what video cards can I replace the old one with? I believe that it's an GeForce 6600. Can I replace the video card with any GeForce 6600?

    Mac Pro G5 Video Problem?

That's a good idea about the ram. I have tried it with different monitors but I didn't try the ram idea. I'll let you know if the ram fixes it or not.

    Mac Pro G5 Video Problem?

i"m helping a friend work on his Mac Pro G5 which seems to have some type of video problem. When I boot into OSX the video gets all distorted with what appears to be like static. I've tried to reinstall OSX but it does the same thing at the install. I've also zapped the PRAM, switched ports for the video card and reseated the ram but the problem persists. Do you think the video card needs to be replaced or is it something else? Thank!

    iMac White Screen Streak

I left the computer unplugged overnight and now the issue is gone. I guess that means it was software related? I also reset my Pram and the computer seems fine now. I'm not sure what caused the problem. If anyone know please let me know.

    iMac White Screen Streak

I woke my intel Imac 1.83 up from hibernation last night and randomly saw a white streak running down the right side of the screen about an inch and a half wide. Has anyone seen this before and do you think it's screen related to does it have something to do with the video card? I tried rebooting and the streak remains. Thanks for any help!

    iMac Upgrade

I read about people opening up their Intel iMac and replacing the core 2 duo processor. Does anyone know which type of Intel cpu socket the Intel iMacs are? Also, is the maximum ram based upon the motherboard or the processor?

    iMac Blueray

My iMac is the first Intel iMac and not the aluminum and glass one so I'm not sure if my monitor built in is HDCP compliant but my main goal would be to play the Blueray movies over a new Panasonic plasma which I'm sure is HDCP compliant. Does any one know if there is a program in windows that can determine if your monitor is HDCP compliant?

    iMac Blueray

Here's one on newegg. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16827106259 Will that work? It's not a bluray burner but it should play movies fine. I'm just wondering about the HDCP ( I think that's what it's called) that you need in a monitor to play blueray movies.

    iMac Blueray

I was thinking about using an external blue ray player. The sell them for $100.

    iMac Blueray

I have an intel 1.83 Imac and I was wondering if it is possible to play Blueray movies on the iMac using boot-camp? I have my mac hooked to a new Panasonic Plasma and it would be nice to use Parallels to play a Blueray movie. What to you think?

    IP Address and Dial Up?

I understand that if Google wanted to find out more about the individual IP address they could but just on the surface wouldn't they just see different IP addresses? Also, what about proxy services like TOR? I've heard that they just won't allow any clicks if it comes from a proxy service. We just need to make sure everything is well thought out because every time we think we have a good point he usually corrects us.
