RUN WINDOWS ON MAC! STRAIGHT FROM APPLE.COM

Yay, that looks great. Unfortunalely, I don't have an Intel-Mac, but good luck to all of you how do 8) ! (wow, nice one)

    Q Emulator

All you need is a bootable Q-compatible image, but don't ask me how to create one... I think, using a usual bootable CD is - although slowest - the easiest way.

Use the dock with your keyboard

You can use your mouse/trackpad for that. 8) 8) 8)

Use the dock with your keyboard

In the keyboard preference pane you can have F1-F12 control the usual functions. Thus you can do those shortcuts on a notebook just as well as any other mac. At least I think (I only have an iBook).

    deauthorizing all computers

All you can do is either de-authorize ONE computer using the iTunes menu on there or de-authorize ALL FIVE computers. This only seems to work when you have 5 computers authorized....

I am an idiot - Trash help needed

usually, when something won't let itself be deleted, this something is still in use. Try logging off, logging on and empty the trash again.

    April 1st?

Well, what's gonna happen? The crowd at Apple is gonna have a great party over the weekend and then they're gonna continue working on more ways to make Walt Mossberg write "It leaves Windows Vista in the dust."

    IO Error

Just to make sure I get that right. You know that it is the external drive that has a problem but think that the I/O-Errors may be caused by some corruption withing the OS? You could check this by connecting the external drive to another computer and find out wether or not the same errors occur. (It is hard for me to believe that such an error would be caused by an OS, but nothing's impossible)

    IO Error

Before you re-install Mac OS X you should make sure that it's your internal drive that has a problem (if it's the external one, re-installing won't change a thing).

Have you checked your Volumes (internal and external) with Disk Utility?

    What is with my battery?

I don't know iBatt, but have you checked what System Profiler tells you?

iMac Intel goes dead when awakening

Memtest does a great job. It's x86 only, but that should be alright with an Intel iMac. As they don't feature a specific Mac-release, I think you would have to download the linux source package and compile it yourself. Sorry, but that's the easiest way I know and IMHO Memtest does a great job.

    Q Emulator

I used Q to install WinXP on my iBook G4. (DON'T do that, it took about 10 hours  !!) CD, however, worked perfectly well. 1. Are you sure you use a bootable CD? 2. When creating a new guest PC, I used my "built-in CD-ROM" and chose to boot from CD-ROM. (Maybe you missed one of these steps?) Hope that helps.

    This has to be heaven

btw: It seems as if those pictures were taken by an Apple employee who took part in this. There is more of that stuff on http://www.jaronbrass.com/gallery/ (browse down to "Apple 1 to 1 Deployments")

    Secure Empty Trash

Those tools should be good to recover files that have been deleted by accident. As soon as some other file has been written over that old file (or zeros as in secure empty trash), the Data is lost even to those tools. There are, however, companies that specialize in data recovery and who can even restore some overwritten data.

    Secure Empty Trash

http://www.stellarinfo.com/mac-data-recovery.htm http://www.subrosasoft.com/OSXSoftware/ind...o&products_id=1 ^I haven't used/tested them, but from what I read, they do the job.
  22. You still can use another ftp-client (like cyberduck) to get read/write abilities on these files.

    I need a description

What you can do is click on that little "i" -icon at the right-hand-side of the description (in iTunes) or - if you're looking for something special - use iTunes' search bar. This also searches the podcast's descriptions (for some reason unknown to me, Spotlight doesn't seem to do so...)
  24. When you used ftp, that's expected behaviour of Mac OS X. When you connect to an ftp-server using Finder you have read-only privileges on that volume (on why Apple problably did that, see here: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?m...407977) On that -36 error: I got that when I tried to connect to a Windows-machine on which I had no shared files. Maybe Samba doesn't recognize your drive as shared network device..

    Browsing with anonimity

503? Service Unavailable? Just to check: Did you make sure, those sites work when not using that program? (I was having a similar problem with a site that wasn't designed to support Safari which led to "internal server error"s all the time, but which worked perfectly well in Firefox..) (fyi: HTTP status codes)
