  1. Hello everyone, I'm looking for an application that I can use to post to several social networking platforms at the same time. For example, I want to post an entry on my Web site, facebook, twitter and myspace at the same time. Any ideas? jcavins
  2. I have been a Super Duper users for some time now. I just upgraded to Leopard but would like to know what the rest of you are using to backup. Are you using Time Machine now or simply waiting for Super Duper or Carbon Copy Cloner? I assume that most of you are in my situation and would like to know what you are doing. Thanks Jeff

    External Firewire Hard Drive

I've used LaCie drives and have had great luck with them. I have 500gig and 250 gig. They are firewire and hooked up to my iMac. I do an automatic backup in the evening using Super Duper.

    Macbook Pro Wristrest

Josh, Is the discoloring on the mouse pad or the base of the laptop, below the keypad? I use the iLap and find that it protects the base of the laptop, not to mention the palms of my hand are protected.
  5. Quicksilver is really a two part application. Think of nouns and verbs. The noun is an application or a file, the verb is an action you want to make on that noun (application or file). For example when you type the first letters of the desired app or file, it appears, then you tab to the next pane to decide on your action to perform on the application or file. Each Application has a plug in that gives you many actions to take on the file. For example if you identify a Word document (which is the noun) you can either open it, compress it, move it to somewhere on your hard drive, among many other actions. You can really do about anything your Mac can do with an app or file, you just don't have to take your hands off the keyboard and put them on a mouse. The application learns your habits and starts to become even more in tune with the way you work. The keys are the noun, verb thing, the tab key, commas and return key.

    Alternative Dock

I have to thank you because you suggested Quicksilver as a way of navigating around the finder. I had never thought of using Quicksilver for that, but now that I have been using it for a while I can't stop. It is one of those moments in my mac journey that changed the way I work. Thanks

    Tiger

    Favorite Mac ever made.

Mac Book Pro, but I have the best memories of working on a Mac SE. That was the point where I was hooked. You have to be to carry that great big portable carrying bag.

    Best Scanner for the Mac?

I did a search but didn't really find a great thread on scanners. For those of you who have used scanners for the Mac, to be used with OCR software, which scanner do you recommend?

Best setup for scanning: OCR & Scanner?

What kind of scanner do you use?

    Software to show me sizes.

OmniDiskSweeper is the best at this. I use when my hard drive is crying for air. Go to www.omnigroup.com

    Optimising my dekstop

I have found Quicksilver to be the best way to navigate through a mess. This program has literally changed the way I use the computer and it has made me much more productive. You have to stay with it to learn it but after a few days you won't go back to a mouse as your main navigation tool.

    Word Processing

If you are looking to go beyond quick note taking I would suggestion Mellel. This word processor is designed for serious writers and academic projects. It handles foreign languages such as Hebrew, so it is very flexible.

    Finding Duplicate Files

Tidy Up is the best application I have seen that deals with this problem of duplicates. It even has some safety measures that prevent you from a wrong deletion.
