The Graphics Update is a Godsend. My 2.0 GHz MBP had always felt less than snappy when it came to animations, etc. - anything seeming to do with Core Image. However, after the driver update, everything is as smooth as I had hoped it would be from the beginning. Sweet. Regards, Curt
  2. Hello, all. I have a MacBook Pro 2.0 GHz Core Duo w/ 1 GB RAM (2x512). I know that, in this configuration, the memory is running in dual-channel mode. However, I'm considering purchasing a single 1GB module to replace one of my 512's, which will knock it down to single-channel mode. Is there going to be any noticeable, real-world difference w/ it in single-channel mode? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Regards, Curt

IRC server for OS X (Tiger)

Does anyone know of a (free) IRC server that I can run on my OS X machine? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for the info. I think that I have found a solution...but I have to convince my wife that it is a "wise" financial investment. My camcorder does not have video-in, so I needed an external solution. Thanks again for the suggestion...

Hello, all. I've been absent for quite some time, but it is nice to see that the 'cast is stronger than ever. I have a question to which I hope someone out there will have an answer. I have a PM G5 1.8DP (Tiger, 1.25 GB RAM, 500 GB HDD total, SuperDrive, iLife '05) and I want to do some VHS-to-DVD transfer. What sort of hardware/software do I need? Would a simple video-in card work in conjunction with iMovie '05, or do I need to dent the wallet a bit more and buy some extra goodies? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Absolutely not. The Maccast is one of the few entertaining Podcasts that I can listen to with my kids in the car. I appreciate the fact that Adam runs a clean show. Thanks again, Adam, for doing such a good job. The occasional slip-ups will occur, but it is nice to know they aren't intentional.

I performed the upgrade on my PM G5 1.8 DP (it took ~25 minutes). All seemed well, but after using it a little, I have noticed some issues. 1. Opening files within Photoshop Elements 2.0 and Excel 2004 takes FOREVER. It takes 15-20 seconds to open a simple file (whereas the same file in Panther would open in about a second). 2. It takes up to 25 seconds for the print dialog to come up in any application once I press Command-Q. I'm contemplating wiping the drive and starting from scratch...but I hate to think about re-installing all of my apps and configuring them...*sigh*. I'll hold off a bit on the chance that someone here will have an idea for an alternate fix.
