  1. Recently, when I have been putting my macbook to sleep, it dosent go to sleep completely. Instead, the display goes to sleep (indicated by white light turning on and staying "solid"). The only way I can get it to come out of this stage is to do a hard restart. When I turn it back on, the I see a gray screen for a few seconds, then it goes black (and the white light comes on), and then it appears to initiate a second restart again and boots all the way. It appears to happen more when I just close the lid (with out going to Apple-->Sleep), but sometimes it does it when I go put it to sleep through the menu as well. How do I resolve this sudden problem that is starting to get annoying, and is surely not good for the computer itself. BTW, I searched for this problem on both Google an in the forums, and found sine similar instances that date back a while ago, but it seemed that everyone suggested to install the newest software and/or firmware (I cant remember which one) and it was supposed to resolve it. I have also tried repairing permissions and restarting PRAM, neither seemed to help at all.

    Rnewel for AppleCare?

I hope this is in the right form area, and if not, my apologies... My Apple Care protection will be running out in about 6 months... Can I renew the protection plan by purchasing a new Apple Care "agreement", or is it not renewable after the initial one runs up?

Podcast Suddenly Stopping in the Middle

I deleted the "problem-ed" podcast and re-downloaded it, and it seems to be working this time. Thanks for your help!

Podcast Suddenly Stopping in the Middle

Thanks, Ill give this a try... But would this explain why its doing it on my computer, in iTunes as well? I understand what your saying about it not copying it to my iPod correctly the first time, but it will stop at the exact same time on in my iTunes, before I even try and copy the podcast to my iPod.
  5. Recently, my podcast (actually, I've really seemed to expereince the problem only when listening to the MacCast, and cant recall having the problem with the other podcast I subscribe to) will just suddenly stop in the middle of the track. Ill be listening to it, and all the sudden, it stops and returns to the beginning point. Ill try and "scroll" back to right before the time it stops at, and it does the exact same thing at the exact same time point. If I "scroll" anywhere beyond the point where the podcast stops in iTunes and push play, it again just goes back to the very beginning. It also seems to be doing this when I try and listen to the same episode on my iPod. Is this something wrong with my computer/iTunes? I hate not being able to listen to the entire episode of the Maccast!
  6. In the show on 11-22, Adam listed off some great undiscovered tips in iTunes. One that I really liked was the support for multiple libraries (by opening the Option key during the startup of iTunes). I was trying to set up my iTunes library the just like Adams ideas he said on the show, how you could keep a separate library just for movies and stuff. So I created a new library just for movies. When I was ready to switch back to my normal library, I quit iTunes, and reopened it while holding down the option key, so i could select my library. However, when I chose "Choose Library...." I could not select my original library (or what I believe it is to be at least, the file titled "iTunes Library" in the Music>iTunes folder. Why am i not able to retrive my original library and open it again!!!?

    Transferring from windows to mac

Oh, got it... I dont have a huge library currently. So how do I go about consolidating. Ive never heard of doing it. Also does it copy the songs to the new location or move them (so they wont be on my original computer anymore)? If at all possible, Id like to keep them on the original computer as well!

    Transferring from windows to mac

Does consolidating require an extrenal hard drive?

    Transferring from windows to mac

How do I go about consolidating the two libraries? Would it be possible to just export the library on my pc, and burn that file to a disc, then import the file on my mac!?
  11. I believe this would go here, versus the New Users and Switchers forum. I recently switched from windows to mac. I have a lot of songs in my itunes library from my windows computer. How do i go about switching my libarary from one system platform to another? If its possible, Id also like to keep the songs already on my windows machine there...

    Rebate Question

I just recently purchased a new macbook, which I really love. When I bought my computer, I took advantage of two of the promotions going on: the free printer and the free ipod nano. Both rebates require that I cut off the UPC bar code from the computer. Obviously theres only one... Does anyone know if photo copies are accepted. I thought the sales assoicate at the apple store said to just photo copy it, but i wanted to confirm this was accepted. Thanks

    In-Store vs. Online

Ok, now i think i got it... So would I walk out with one that day (assuming they have the computer in stock, and choose to have them install the ram). But ill take that into consideration (about installing my own).

    In-Store vs. Online

Im sorry, but im still not following what your saying... I want to buy a 2.0 ghz MBP. It comes standered with 512 ram... but I want to order 100 ram. Can I order the computer built-to-order (with the upgraded ram) at the apple retail store? I was wondering because I have some apple gift cards i'd like to use.
