  1. I've been reading old threads on the net hoping to find something I might have missed last time I tried that and stumbled upon this:

    So I was trying to figure out how to connect my xbox to a router across the room and I realized that my brother already had a wireless dongle for the xbox. So I decided to try internet sharing.

    It's actually very simple.

    1. Turn on internet sharing (system preferences>sharing)

    2. Select to share connection from ethernet to airport

    3. go to airport options and under tcp/ip change to manual and input these numbers instead

    IP=10.0.0.1

    Subnet Mask = 255.255.255.0

    4. Open the network preferences on the xbox

    5. connect to the wireless (if you made a password you'll have to enter it)

    6. change the IP setup to manual and put them in this order

    IP = 10.0.0.2

    subnet = 255.255.255.0

    Gateway = 10.0.0.1

    then Change the DNS to

    Primary = 10.0.2.1

    Secondary = 10.10.10.100

    And then you should be all set to connect. It works pretty well and now you can also use your ipad, Iphone or Ipod touch without having to purchase a wireless router.

    Peace all, Enjoy

    Seems to work so far! :)

  2. Hey!

    Just wanted to say I love the show! I have been listening to it ever since THINKING about switching to a Mac and your show really made the difference and had me buy my first Mac!

    My first mp3 player was an iPod Shuffle (the first generation, I miss that stick form factor!) and I discovered Podcasts playing around in iTunes back in 2005.

    The Maccast was one of the top podcast in the Mac category so I subscribed to it and have been listening ever since.

    You managed to keep your content interesting and free for so many years it's unbelievable! I love the format of the show: a bit of news, some tips and tricks, some rants... It's like having a conversation with fellow Mac geeks! :)

    Anyway, thanks for all the work you put into this show!

    It's about time I get on this forum! ;)

  3. My Mac Mini (G4, running Leopard) serves as a wireless hotspot for the rest of the house. It is connecting to my cable modem with an ethernet cable.

    I just checked the "Internet sharing" option in the System Preference pane.

    EVERYTHING connects with no problem whatsoever (my Macbook Pro, Wii, iPod Touch, iPhone, 2 PC laptops, whatever my friends will bring home...), they just select the wireless network and they are on the internet.

    My XBOX as a wireless adapter on it. It just won't connect to the wireless network...

    When I try searching for a solution I always end up with ways to use a mac as a wireless adapter, which is not what I am trying to do.

    Any ideas?
