iTunes 9 erases music on iPhone

Hi all, I recently updated my iPhone to the latest software. Everything fine. Yesterday I wanted to sync my phone with iTunes 9 (also carrying the latest version). At first iTunes did not recognize my iPhone, then it erased all music on the device - the apps stayed on. It gave me an error message saying "iPhone is not a device that can be recognized or synced" (I translate this from my german iTunes, so be easy on me). I thought it was a one time glitch, put back 6 GB of music and video and wanted to add some more this evening. Again iTunes started to give me the error message. I quickly unplugged my iPhone and was able to save the 6 GB of music on it. But this is crazy...never had this problem before. Anyone having the same issues? FYI, my iTunes library is stored on a NAS Buffalo harddrive, I access it via my network. But so far that did not seem to be a problem for syncing music and videos - it's just not the fastest harddrive, the Buffalo live station. Any ideas or tipps are most welcome Gregor from Munich
  2. THANK YOU SO MUCH. This did it. I did reset all the warnings and also clicked on "transfer purchases" and violà the music went into iTunes without any problems. Thanks again for the great tip. All the best Greg
  3. Hi, I have a problem that only surfaced once so far but happened after upgrading my iPhone to the lastest software. On the road I purchased a movie score from iTunes via my iPhone. The songs now will not sync from my iPhone into my iTunes-library. No matter what I do, they just stay on the device. Syncing apps back and forth is no problem. I have the iPhone set on managing music and vids manually, as it was before upgrading the software. Back then every purchase synced from phone to iTunes just fine. Anybody any idea how to solve this? I already logged off from my mac account and back on and resynced. Still no success. And I´d rather not switch from manually managing music to automatic since this would erase all the music on my iPhone, right?. Please help me! Greg
  4. Hi you all, did anyone ever have this problem? When I for example rightclick a movie-file the "open with"-menue opens to list recommended apps to open the file with. But in my case every app is listed twice ??!! Follow the link to see a screenshot of what I mean: a screenshot of my problem Is there something wrong with my system (mac OS tiger)? Or is this just a weird intel-mac kinda thing? I´d love some piece of advice since this double listing simply annoys me looking at it... Thanx Gregor

    Flash CS 3 or Motion?

Hi there, this is for you multimedia graphic artists out there. I already have Motion to create professional multimedia content. I also want to create cool intros to my website and for other small companies. Do I absolutely need Flash CS 3 for that? (I know it always depends on what you wanna do, but) is there something missing in Motion you can only accomplish with Flash CS 3? Should I maybe invest money into a powerful flash converter like Sorensen Squeeze (if there are other recommandations I welcome them) instead of spending an add. 800 Euros for Flash CS 3 since I have Motion? I hope this question is not too general. Thank you in advance for your infos and help with this. Gregor from Munich, Germany
  6. My company is planning on purchasing a new iMac for video and audio production. They also want to use FINAL CUT STUDIO 2. I am already providing video content for them but I am working on a mac pro. So will the new iMac 24 inch with the fastest cpu and full RAM be sufficient to do the job for video as well? A little loss in speed is acceptable compared to my intel mac pro... Thanks for your judgement Gregor
  7. Hi there, I have hooked 4 external firewire Lacies to my mac pro. They of course from time to time get pretty noisy due to the fans inside them cooling the drives down. Now since I am in audio- and video-production and cannot affort to build myself an extra totally soundproof recording box I am looking for ways to maybe store the harddrives in a soundproof box (smaller and cheaper solution I think!). Does anyone know about such storage devices? Or does anyone have a not too pricy idea on what to put in between my mic and the drives to reduce the sound? For orientation: I work on a desk where the mic is set up right next to my monitor on a stand. The drives are located right behind the monitor on the same desk...it is unfortunately the only place where to put them due to short firewire cables! Any ideas comments and help is very much appreciated! Cheers Gregor
  8. Thank you...I´ll get right to that! Do you have any experience on working with final cut pro & motion on a powerbook? Since I am now used to the speed of a mac pro I sometimes wonder if it is worth the hassle at all...or maybe sell the old pb, invest big money again and get a mac book pro...well do you have any experience with it?
  9. Well, isn´t that the last and most incisive method? Isn´t there any other simpler way? :-0
  10. Hi everybody, I accidentally seem to have erased my mac OS X ACTIVITY MONITOR from my system. I checked and doublechecked my harddrive and did a big search for it with everything from spotlight to going through everything by clicking and checking. I obviously erased it. Is there anything I can do via the web to download ACTIVITY MONITOR and put it back on my powerbook? Don´t know when I erased it, but it´s gone! Thank you for any advice
  11. Hi there! I need to work with Final Cut Pro and Motion 2 on my powerbook G 4 (2 GB RAM) and therefore want to throw off stuff I don´t really need to cranc up the performance of the powerbook and also free up more space. I have a 60 GB harddrive and currently only 10 GB of space left - not much if you are working with video. I usually work with video on an intel mac pro 2.6 intel core duo, so I have great speed there. But before those computers people have been editing video etc. with Final Cut and Motion on powerbooks for years. At the moment my powerbook seems pretty maxed out especially when I render video and work with Motion. So what advice can anyone give me on what to throw off the powerbook (what applications should never be removed?) and how to free up more disc space on the powerbook? How can I improve it´s performance? Maybe there is something very simple to do I just don´t think of... Thank you!
