    Lynda.com + Safari

Tobz - Sometimes, if you have QuickTime Pro, you can CONTROL + CLICK on the video and choose "Download File". But as many sites are switching to "Flash Movies" that won't help. So try this little application that will capture ANY movement on your screen - even FLASH MOVIES - http://www.shinywhitebox.com/home/home.html It's called iShowU and is really amazing. If you have a computer camera (like iSite), and PhotoBooth, you can set it up to capture yourself in movie form. A little tedious getting started, but well worth it once your over the first few captures. Hope this helps -

    Dialog Box / Menu Tip

Anytime a Dialog Box or Menu item is followed by THREE DOTS (typographers' ellipsis) you can be assured it will take you to ANOTHER CHOICE. For instance, after you've select all the text in a Post you're creating, you can then either RIGHT CLICK or CONTROL CLICK and see the pop up menu with sub menu choices. Clicking on "Spelling" will give you three more choices. One will be "Spelling . . ." If you choose this, the spelling OPTION BOX will pop up so you can IGNORE GUESS FIND NEXT CORRECT FORGET LEARN or even switch to a different Dictionary. It's the same with the common File Menu choice of "Print . . ." This will ALWAYS take you to more options. The Rule Here "Item . . " always takes you to another choice "Item" is a direct action - many times it is permanent. So after you write your posts, and BEFORE you send them, COMMAND + A (to select ALL), then CONTROL CLICK (to bring up the floating dialog box) and choose the Sub Menu under "Spelling" followed with the three little dots to access FULL SPELLING FEATURES! P.S. you can Type an "ELIPSIS" by holding down the OPTION KEY and pressing the Semi Colon Button …

    who got one?

NOT YET - I'm Still Standing In Line - So there I was the other night, still standing in line at the U-Village Apple store in Seattle - like I have been since July first - chatting with a few people about their iPhones. As always, the subject was raised about why I'm still standing in a one person line. Well, My wife wisely holds the purse strings and has set my iDay accordingly. It's a good thing too, cause if I controlled the money we'd have far more than the ten or so MACs at our shop than we do now (but with ZERO in the bank). Added to the computers, we have Apple software galore, iPods (an entire collection) and more. My wife even used to WORK for Apple (I carry a picture of her old employee badge in my wallet). With all this time on my hands (I log a few minutes a week standing in line) I have surfed to most every www address that references iPhone and THIS is STILL the place for me, Adam. MacCast is friendly, intelligent and informative with just enough humor to take the edge off my own impatience. At nearly 61 people think I'm nuts for jonesing this way. Everyone except my wife and son who've know of my Apple passion since 1985. I've even made a living following MACs and MAC software around the world (my split frame picture shows me with The WOZ and again withHopalong Cassidy). I've already worn out TWO paper mock ups of an iPhone since early June, and I'll tell you that the size is PERFECT. Since using the iPhone demos at the store (when I can get someone to hold my place in line for a few minutes), I have switched to a cardboard model and approximated the iPhone's weight with pebbles from the little fountain near where I stand. The Apple Store employees are getting as used to seeing me as the Starbucks folks across the mall (everybody knows my name now - CHEERS!). I've got a favorite iPhone on the demo table and have been giving the # out to friends. The phone reception is GREAT! Plus i've already learned how to change the ring tone back to marimba with only a few finger presses. It's great to read real world reports on the iPhone. Hey, is anybody naming theirs, like people used to name their VW Bugs? If so, that'd be a great list to start. Well, I gotta go get another cold "FRAP", the sun is making me a little loopy. I wish my new iPhone could....

A NOTES TRICK - I read this on another site (not my disclaimer, the TIP that follows). MY DISCLAIMER - I do NOT yet have my iPhone. I'm still standing in line at the U-Village Apple Store in Seattle until my budget matches my desire. TIP - Instead of logging you notes in NOTES, create a NEW Contact titled "NOTES" and then write all your notes in the "notes" section for that contact. When you SYNC next time, the notes will be easily retrievable. Hope this helps - "Still Standing In Line" (Oh yea, it gets weird sometimes, especially this weekend in the rain)

    iPhone Bluetooth Headset

Meta - A Question. Do you have an iPhone? If so, sounds like your Jabra has been with you for a while. Was there any problems getting the two to match up (speak to each other - forget the PUN)? I have more iPhone questions re: the Jabra, but I'll wait to see if that's how you use the headset. Thanks - TRG

    Still Standing In Line

IS there anyone else waiting to buy an iPhone? For whatever reason - like budget constraints (still saving up), or perhaps waiting for version 2? Let me know, please. Also, has ANYONE already got an iPhone who has buyers' remorse (I wish I hadn't done that)? That Ray Guy - 3 W's then insidetheboom followed by dot com

    Still Standing In Line

Joe - Thanks for the input and the "way to go" for my humor (it's real). I have some more funny stories I hope to post about my recent adventures "Standing In Line". Oh, I'm naming my iPhone "GIZMO". But I like Lisa, especially the way AT&T unwittingly gave your iPhone the moniker. That Ray Guy

    Maccast Website

The same thing has been happening to me. MacBook Pro - 10.4.9, everything else is latest upgrades. Safari 2.0.4. Mousing over a blue link makes it disappear. If I click near it, it reappears, but remains unusable. This doesn't appear to be an isolated issue. That Ray Guy - insidetheboom dot com
