I don't know any free hosts but godaddy has been good to me plus they are very inexpensive. If you look at http://www.diggnation.com you can find a %10 off coupon code.

I have heard siteground is good with really good support, and i now sporn uses 1and1 with freecasts.net, which is a cheap provider.

Whatever you do get nothing from 1and1.

How much space and bandwidth etc. are you looking for?

Chalk up another GoDaddy fan. They are pretty cheap and the customer services is great.

The free hosting adds a banner to the top of your site, so you might as well pay for the hosting later and set up the site with the banner. When you want to go live, then pay for the hosting.

Oh and the 10% code is usually 'digg'

I have 1and1 and love it. They are much less expensive than godaddy and you get more space and bandwith. Whenever I call tech support, I am on the phone with someone within 15 mins at most, and they always help.

Also I would be more than happy to help with your hosting.

Fifteen minutes? At what cost? This is what you need to watch out for - expensive and/or poor support with free service providers. I'm in the UK and use www.legend.co.uk - a cheap and hopeless provider who I would not recommend to anyone as their services are down more often than a prostitute's knickers.

I have never been on the phone for 15 minutes with godaddy. Usually when you call you get right through, sometimes it takes a minute or so.

Not sure of any free hosts. I use Bluehost for a club site. Depending on what you want to accomplish. They provide many tools to setup a phpbb, sql database, and a front end. The basic shell was installed, built, and online in 20 mins. Their support has been fantastic.

I use Servage - http://servage.net

Dirt cheap, pretty reliable (for the cost anyway) and I get more space and bandwidth than I know what to do with.

I personally use siteground and find it meets all my needs and its the provider I advice clients to use however nowadays it seems that every man and their dog have web hosting to offer and the gereral rule of thumb is to stick with the big boys.

I came across this article a while ago but still makes very good sense when shopping for host service.

Good luck

Oooh, this is an oldie. Anyway, after seeing all these people saying they use 1&1, I thought I'd better point you towards my friends tale of woe.

Long story short, they tried to sue her for money she didn't owe. And then made out they were doing her a favour by not suing her in the end.
