Viewing HTML in Apple Mail

Recommended Posts

I found this fine article on the web:

Viewing HTML messages in Apple Mail

If you turn off image viewing, you will avoid spammers from sensing that your e-mail address is used by someone (that would be you). If you know a message is not spam, you can still load the images manually. This will not stop all images, because some images are embedded in the e-mail message. Those embedded images will not send a ping to an image server, that marks your e-mail address as a "live address" (meaning: an e-mail address that is used on a regular basis). If you do download images from spammers, you might be targeted and receive an enormous increase in spam traffic on your e-mail address, sometimes thousands of messages per minute, making your e-mail address practically useless.

If you want even more secure mail delivery, turn off html viewing, as described in the article.
