How do i password protect a folder?

Hey im still pretty new to the mac and have a question.

 

Is there anyway i can password protect a file or folder in Mac OS X Tiger.

or do i have to download some third party software!

What I always do when I want to do this create a password protected disk image. You can do this in through disk utility. Once you have it created you can stuff in it and as long as the image is not mounted it will be password protected.

There is a wiget that dose it is called dash crypt.

 

I have it on my computer but can't find it online I could email it to you if you want just pm me with an email adddress and a link to this post.

good find. I already sent him the file but if anyone else needs to encypt files and folders it is recommended.
