Migration assistant help!

Recommended Posts

My new Macbook Pro will not see my iMac G5 even though the firewire symbol is there. I am using firewire 6pin to 6pin. I have restarted holding T and restarted by selectin "restart in Target disk mode.

Any Advice?

Have you tried removing the firewire cable and reconnecting it or a new firewire cable? I have had trouble with sub-par firewire cables in the past.

You could open Disk Utility and see if the drive shows up there.

The point of Target Mode is only to let you SEE the disk NOT the machine.

Purpose: access to that disk for instance to have migration assistant copy accounts from that disk + info.

Its purpose was and is not to see a computer, it is NO network server tool.

So seeing the disk icon is indeed what you expect to see when in target mode.

Start migration assistant and migrate what account/info you want.
