iTunes Sharing

Recommended Posts

Sometimes, when I try to connect to my iTunes library via sharing it does not work. When I click on it, it hangs for a while, then comes up with this error:

The shared library is not responding. (-3259)

Check that any firewall software running on either the shared computer or this computer has been set to allow communication on port 49152.

I have searched through System Preferences and firewall settings, but I can't find the problem. Admittedly, I'm not too familiar with how firewalls and networks work.

However, this problem only happens some of the time. Occasionally, iTunes sharing will work just fine without any hiccups at all.

On another, perhaps related, note, the Remote app on my iPod Touch can't connect to any of my iTunes libraries on any of my computers. It tries to connect, but just times out.

If it's relevant, my two computers are running Tiger and Leopard. Both are running the same version of iTunes.

If anyone can help with either of these problems, it would be MUCH appreciated. Thanks!
