Linux and Airport Base Station

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

Basic thing here, I've read that there are problems with Ubuntu and Xandros Linux with Airport Extreme Base Stations. Why, I can only think it has to do with the actual OS.

A few things:

- I have a Eee 901 PC running Xandros right now, looking to change it to Ubuntu, but either way...

- I'm having Airport Lock ups! The poor thing just locks up and dies. Has to be restarted.

- It will be okay for about 3-4 minutes. Then just gives up.

Does anyone know of a way around this? I would like to get wireless on my new Netbook, but it seems to be not happening any time soon.

Or, are there versions of Linux that I can install on my Eee that will work with the Airport? I did some research and aparently Ubuntu is having the same problems.

After a bit of searching I found out it was due to an update to my wifi drivers. So I decided to install Ubuntu and get Wicd on it instead. Hopefully this will solve the problem :)
