Smart folders

Recommended Posts

When i create smartfolders to sync to my ipod some of the folders do not update while on the ipod

i.e. i have a folder that does not have any song played in the last 5 days but the songs stay in the folder until it sync it to itunes.

I think when "manually managing music and videos" are ticked, it works.

Can someone please explain?

(will post more info if required)

Depends on what iPod you have. I seem to remember my 5G didn't do that, but iPod Touches and iPhones do now with the latest software. I believe it was added with 3.0.

:)

i have the latest ipod nano.

the variable list is as follow:

-match all rules

-Last played is not in the last 5 days

-Playlist is Music

-Rating is not [one star]

-last skipped is not in the last 1 days

✓ Limit to 1200mb selected by random

✓ Match only checked items

✓ Live updating

Also:

Sync only checked songs and videos and

Enable disk use

are also checked

Yup, don't think your ipod supports it.

The weird thing is that it works with some of my smartfolders(i.e. "100 not rated")

Come to think of it...the playlist above is the only one not working correctly.

Anywho, thanks.

I guess my question has been answered; i thought someone else might have had the same problem.

Actually, I think iTunes 9 has broken this. I have an iPod touch with the new 3.1 software on it, and all my smart playlists have gone awry on it. I think there's a lack of communication between the guys creating the new smart playlist features in iTunes and the guys updating the firmware on the iPods - fingers crossed for a fix soon!
