Snow Leopard Hard Drive Space....How much did you get?

Recommended Posts

Just wondering - it was advertised as 7gb, but before I installed, I had 30 gb free. Now, after the upgrade, I have 42 with rosetta installed! Anyone else get similar results?

I think this is down to Snow Leopard using a thing called base10, it means SL counts a gigabyte as 1000mb. Whereas Leopard counted a GB as 1024mb. So thats why Snow Leopard appears to have given you back so much space!

Its still great to see though, and the 7GB you actually do get back from upgrading to Snow Leopard is a real bonus

My install of Snow Leopard gave me back 12GB. I also took the time to do a little house cleaning and dump unwanted programs freeing up even more space.
