Who's on my network

Recommended Posts

On the left hand side of my Finder window under "Shared" I see all my computers with my Dot Mac info plus my router. However I also see 2 Windows machines (I am guessing) how can I find out who they are and is there a way to kick them off. I should mention the computer I am on at this time is not on my home network I am at a hotel.

Any ideas?

just because you can see them doesn't automatically mean that they can see you. the Finder automatically finds and displays all the computers that it can connect to that are on the same network as you. this is the same way it works when you work in any public place like a coffee shop, internet cafe, library or lab. if you really make sure these computers can't see you be sure to turn off Windows file sharing in the Sharing system preference.
