I realized App Store was easier. Interesting.

This is the first time this has happened for me. I got an email from MacUpdate Promo for Diagrammix 2.5. They were running a special price and this is an app I have considered buying in the past. Before I jumped on it I checked the App Store and it was available in there at full price, so $8 more. I thought for $8 it's worth it to be notified of updates and to not have to track serial numbers and stuff. Then I realized that's the first time I actually decided the App Store ecosystem has a real value for me.

Has anyone else thought about this? I think for now on I'll purchase from the App Store as long as it's available there.

I buy in the App Store as long as there's no difference between versions. For something like the app you described or a text editor etc it's a lot easier to buy through the App Store. But when it comes to the apps that need more system level access - i.e. TextExpander - I definitely buy straight from the developer.
