Gospel 2 Posted February 7, 2017 I have a late-2015 4K retina iMac. I also have 12.9" iPad pro. I can fully charge this iPad in less than 3 hours (while in use!) via the Lightning to USB-C cable & Apple's 29W power wallwart. Is there a way to get USB3 data speeds when syncing the iPad with the iMac? It has USB 3 ports. Is there a way to add USB-C to the iMac via an adapter/dock through the iMac's USB3 or Thunderbolt 2 ports? Thanks! Steven
Huskermn 33 Posted February 12, 2017 As far as I can tell from a little research is, MAYBE. This seemed to have the best comparison I could find - https://www.cnet.com/how-to/usb-type-c-thunderbolt-3-one-cable-to-connect-them-all/ I am not at all clear about what speed is supported at the actual bus in the devices which I think it the limiting factor. MacCast 80 Posted March 15, 2017 @Gospel The iPad Pro 12.9 should be able to achieve USB 3 data transfer speeds through the Lightning to USB cable connected to the USB 3 port on your iMac. What is leading you to believe that you're not getting those transfer rates?
