Drag, Switch and Drop

Recommended Posts

Here's a great tip that may not be so obvious, especially to long time Mac users (you definitely couldn't do this before OS X).

If you want to drag something from one application to another, Mac OS X provides a great way to do this. You don't need to worry if the target application's windows are visible or hidden. Simply grab and start to drag the item you want. Then, while still holding down the mouse button, hold down the Command (Apple) key and press Tab to bring up the application switcher. Continue pressing Tab until the target application is highlighted. Release the Command and Tab keys to switch, then drop your item into the application!

And, if you have exposé in any of the screen corners, you can grab the files (click and drag them) move the mouse to the appropriate screen corner, move the mouse to the wanted window and.. do what you wanted to do! =P

Or, equally you could use the expose keys to achieve the same effect.

You can also drag and drop to an app in the dock, such as stickies - which will make a new note of your selection.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. MAC ROCKS!
