Mac Freeware List

Recommended Posts

I thought it might be nice to have a list of all of the freeware applications that we use and swear by. I think it will be really cool if we can get a large list going! If not, then here is my list of freeware I use.

-----------------

AdiumX-Multiple protocol IM client.

Azureus-BitTorrent client.

Cyberduck-FTP/SFTP client.

FireFox-Alternative to Safari.

iZoom-Simple image resizer/cropper.

NetNewsWire Lite-RSS and Atom newsreader.

NVU-WYSIWYG HTML Editor, Similar to Dreamweaver

PrintWindow-Easily print Finder windows.

Quicksilver-Application launcher and more.

SubEthaEdit-Free feature full text editor.

VLC-Video player that supports a large number of multimedia formats.

X-Chat Aqua-IRC client that is very similar to X-Chat on Windows.[/url]

I was sort of meaning for this to be a personal thread, about the apps that the MacCast community personally uses, rather than those from a website. If anyone has anything to add, I'd love to see your additions to the existing list. I am always looking for more freeware :P

I use all of the following:

BackLight Watch your screensavers as your desktop background.

Camino A simple browser; looks like Apple, works like Mozilla.

Digg Update Digg.com front page news, in your menu bar.

iRooster Alarm clock for your Mac. How cool is that?

MacJanitor For those that don't leave their Mac awake 24/7.

Mail.appetizer Incoming E-mail at a glance in Apple Mail.

One Finger Snap Use 2 mouse buttons when your Mac only has one.

Seashore Image editing; GIMP for Mac.

SoundStream Sound sensative "Flurry" like screensaver.

SuperDuper Simple, free backup utility that actually works.

Writely Collaberative online word processing.

Teleport Switch between Macs, PCs and more Macs without a KVM switch! Just throw your mouse.

mpegStreamClip If you can't watcha movie, play it in here then edit/re-encode it to just about any codec/format.

Tunatic Audio song recognition software.

I have a bunch more, but they are low cost ($20 or less) so I will leave that for another post. Great idea Mitch, I am always on the look out.
