I will get one. To shoot it.

#1. Off topic

Cfsporn, say something once and you may be misheard. Say it twice and you've got people's attention. Say it a third time and you've made your point. Say it again and you're being ignored. <-- just my philosophy

Back on topic...

#2. I'd buy either if I had the money and the need/desire. I only have the desire. A friend of mine is buying the high end MacBook. I can't wait to play with it.

#3. Dude, that would be a hell of a birthday present.

I'm not getting either one (right now) for the same reasons I'm not busting out to get an xBox. Currently the software that works on it is thin. Wait about a year and see how these are received. Sure, a dual core laptop is nice, but you can't do much with it if you have no software.

Not sure I'm willing to part with the money as I already have a ibook and mac mini. But that mac book is sorta my dream machine, great for osx and great for xp gaming box.

I voted for the MacBook, because I want one pretty bad. I will not be getting it until I save up the money, unless I can sell my Dell Inspiron 8500.

Right now I have an iMac G5 from Dec. 2004, and an iBook from Sept. 2005. I don't need a 2000 dollar laptop at the moment. It'll have to wait.

I bet you're like me. I secretly wish my Dell would break beyond repair.

my greedy side wants my mac mini and powerbook to blow up but last time i checked only windows could do that, my mac side is perfectly happy with my config and the intel machines are a welcome addition to the Mac family tree and if my dad does decide to get the iMac for a hometheater system then intel it is.

mixed feelings at present with the iMac upgrade (which only arrived early december after shipping delays!) - so tempted to sell it off and get the intel chips... arrgghh

own a rev B powerbook, so will not be reaching into my pocket anytime soon

I've been asked to choose my birthday present for this year, selecting between two choices:

1) A Canon EOS 5D Digital SLR

2) A maxed-out 20" Intel iMac

The camera has a sensor that is the same size as a 35mm film frame, giving it a 12.8 MP image size. Since I already own an older Canon EOS DSLR I'd be all set with lenses right away. Although the resolution is twice that of my current camera, the real draw of this new camera is it's 60 shot burst mode.

The iMac would be BTO with all of the upgrades and options and would likely replace the Mac Mini currently in my home office.

I'm having difficulty making a decision.

If it was just me spending my money (and not my wife!), I would probably go for an iMac. But we already have two machines that are less than a year old and I think even the mention of another would be enough to send her into a tirade. But in all honesty, I'm quite content to sit on the fence for the moment and let everyone else deal with whatever issues may arise.

There would be absolutely no contention with this decision for me, sir. The EOS 5D would win out every single day. I would love some of that yummy, full-framed goodness. I have the Rebel XT currently. The 1.6x crop factor can be annoying at times, but it works for now until I have the $3500 to get the 5D.

Inspiron, an inspiring name... PowerBook a really good powerful name for a computer, from a computer company that "Thinks Different". MacBook Pro doesn't quite role off the tongue as well does it. :? I guess we'll all just have to get used to in time. :(

I'm gonna go for a viPod instead.

Much more do-able.

My PowerBook still less than a year old. I'll be waiting until I have a need for a more powerful machine. Unless, of course, some benevolent individual wishes to donate a shiny new MacBook Pro to my cause :D

What do you mean? Rosetta takes care of most of that. Yes, not much runs natively yet, but in the mean time a it of compromise?
