:!:ALERT:!:

We recently discovered that since the server switch many people were experiencing issues with the forum and accessing some features like viewing just the posts since their last visit. We discovered the issues were with some bad settings with regards to the cookies. The good news is we fixed the issue. The bad news is you will need to clear your maccast.com cookie or you may have issues logging in. Each browser has a different method for doing this, but we included instructions for the two most popular below. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Removing the cookies:

In FireFox go to Firefox-->Preferences-->Privacy-->Cookies Tab-->View Cookies>Search for maccast-->remove each maccast cookie by clicking "Remove Cookie"

In Safari go to Safari-->Preferences-->Security-->Show Cookies-->Scroll Down to the M's-->Select All of your MacCast Cookies-->Click Remove

That will remove all cookies, which I wouldn't suggest doing. To remove just your maccast.com cookies do the following:

In Firefox go to:

Firefox>Preferences>Privacy>Cookies Tab>View Cookies>Search for maccast>remove each maccast cookie by clicking "Remove Cookie"

In Safari go to Safari>Preferences>Security>Show Cookies>Scroll Down to the M's>Select All of your MacCast Cookies>Click Remove

CFS,

Yes that is true, but that will reset all cookies for all sites and many of you won't want to do that.

I find that it is a good idea to just clear it once a month or so.

But, not everyone would want to do that and not everyone would understand the consequences to that action. If it is posted, one should mention the consequences of doing this or not post it at all.

bebe,

mostly if you have sites that were set to remember your login, you will need to login to those again. Oh and sites that track you for advertising purposes will lose their ability to hook you back up to their historical tracking data, but that is more of a benefit. ;)

Yeah, it's not really a big deal. You just did a little over-cleaning and basically 'rebooted' Safari from a default state. I might do it occasionally without regret because any thing I log in to I can log in to again after clicking on the "Duh, I forgot my unique password to your silly site" link and all of that.

Taken from macs.about.com:

Resetting Safari accomplishes the following:

clears history list

empties the cache

clears the Downloads window

removes all cookies

removes any saved user names, passwords or other AutoFill data

clears Google search entries
