Need help setting up a website.

Recommended Posts

I would like to create a site with iWeb and I have found a free web hosting site.

I want to get my domain name from www.dot.tk

Please could some Network geeks help me set up my website? Is it even possible without .mac?

Thanks.

Well, I'm not using iWeb (nor am I posessing iLife '06 at all) but my understanding is that iWeb supports both .Mac and FTP accounts.

Hence, you will probably be able to use iWeb with your free webhost, provided they offer FTP access. If so, you should have been given the relevant data (i.e. username, password and server name).

ftp is not really supported. you can publish to dot mac or a folder. you then have to move that folder to the ftp using a ftp client. i use cyberduck.

ask cfsporn for the link to his website that he made using .mac, i helped him upload it to my server.

You may be able to setup a folder action that automatically uploads that folder to an FTP site.

Although maybe not. I could just be blabbering on!

Any FTP software ought to be able to do the trick easily enough.

You know what? Get Transmit. Then use automator to setup your actions. You can place the application on your desktop and then you drag whatever you want into the automator appication and it will upload it for you. No hasssles.
