stevewhodrums 0 Posted April 11, 2006 I am trying to redirect my older homepage.mac.com/username site to my iWeb site. Following Apple's instructions hasn't seemed to help, as I keep getting the dreaded error 404 (not found) page. Apple's instructions are here . Using .Mac's homepage, I even created a new site with a single page, deleted the page in iDisk such that only the index.html file remained, changed the link in the index.html file as directed in the instructions, but still received the 404 error. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.
The Professor 0 Posted April 11, 2006 There is an item in the May issue of Mac Addict magazine that includes a tip on how to do this. I'd give you more details, but I just got home from the hospital after major surgery and I've got too much pain right now to go hunt it down.

jasonium 0 Posted April 11, 2006 I'd give you more details, but I just got home from the hospital after major surgery and I've got too much pain right now to go hunt it down. Holy smokes! Hope you feel better. As for redirect - are you tryin to forward the domain as well? stevewhodrums 0 Posted April 11, 2006 I followed your suggestions, but still did not find the solution. According to Apple (see my link in the original post), "edit the [index.html] file and change that URL to web.mac.com/yourmembername/iWeb, future traffic will automatically be sent to your new address." The site continues to look for the old page, and does not redirect to the iWeb site. :?
jasonium 0 Posted April 11, 2006 Don't think i'm belittling you, but did you change "yourmembername" to your actual member name? /you never know.
kensterator 0 Posted April 11, 2006 Would you like to try some html code like this? <meta http-equiv="refresh" content="4;url=http://www.redireceddomain.com" /> Where content=# of secs 'till redirect and url= redirecetd domain.
stevewhodrums 0 Posted April 11, 2006 Would you like to try some html code like this? <meta http-equiv="refresh" content="4;url=http://www.redireceddomain.com" /> Where content=# of secs 'till redirect and url= redirecetd domain. That's what I have, except my delay is 0. If I click the index.html file in iDisk, it takes me to the iWeb site. However, if I type the homepage.mac.com/username URL in a browser's address field, it tries to resolve the original "homepage" site.
stevewhodrums 0 Posted April 12, 2006 I found the solution to my problem by reading in the Apple Discussion area. (Thank you very much, however, for trying to help!) What I learned is that I needed to update INDEX.HTML with the redirect code (as stated in the earlier post), plus add the same redirect code to my main page (start page). THEN it worked.
