Making the switch

Recommended Posts

Well I've decided that the time was right and placed my order for a MacBook tonight. However, the estimated ship date is a week away. I was wondering if there are any sites / resources for win users to make an easier transition between the two, and to quickly learn all of the tips and tricks to making the switch as painless(?) as possible? Anxious to get my hands on this thing just wish it could be quicker.

Thanks

Welcome to the mac world,Using the mac is really quite simple, but that can cause a few problems for a switcher from windows. You may need to dumb down your thinking a little. After you have booted for the first time just play around with your new mac,its quite hard to do any damage to the os and as with any new toy its great fun.

apple own site has a wealth of information and great place to start looking

As usual I will jump in with my 2¢. It doesn't work for everyone i realize, but I learned a lot by watching the following videos:

http://www.apple.com/quicktime/qtv/wwdc04/

http://www.apple.com/quicktime/qtv/wwdc05/

http://www.apple.com/quicktime/qtv/mwsf06/

http://www.apple.com/macosx/quicktours/viewall.html

This forum is always a great place to ask a question also. Nothing too big, nothing too small. Then there is http://discussions.apple.com, http://apple.com/support and http://versiontracker.com. With those in your tool belt you should be good to go.

I'm a visual person, and get alot out of watching tutorials (in addition to a little reading). Check out the Screencastsonline site for such tutorials. I subscribe to the vid-cast in iTunes.

The website with the archive of shows is at http://screencastsonline.com/sco/info/scoarchive.html.

Welcome aboard!!!

Anxiously awaiting its arrival, its somewhere between here and China already.

So far i'm quite pleased with the fact that it shipped less then 12 hours after i had placed the order.
