why are the itunes music store links phobos

and not http? Anyone know? Is there a story behind this? I know phobos is a moon of Mars but I dont get the connection.

I've always wondered that to... however, dictionary search reveals (along with one of Mar's moons) "ORIGIN named after one of the sons of the Greek war god Ares . The name means literally ‘fear.’"

 

Maybe it is meant for other music services to "fear" iTunes. I don't know, just kind of interesting that is part of the meaning.

The itms:// protocol is bascially standard http. The itms:// part of the URL acts like a file extension and associates those kinds of links with iTunes. You could probably open the same link with http:// in the front, but you may get garbage because it is encrypted.
