Another iPod feature gone!!!

Recommended Posts

If you remember, a long time ago, when you unplugged your headphones from your iPod, then it paused. I loved this feature. It turns out it is gone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! What can I do to get it back?

It works on my 5th gen iPod. I suggest you see if your iPod software is updated. It might be out of date.

I have a 1 gig nano and noticed the same thing. My old 20gig (non-color) iPod paused when the headphones unplugged, but I accidentally pulled them out of my nano and it didn't.

However, the other day I was going for a run and pulled out the headphone plug from the ipod so I could string the cord through my shirt and it paused.

I just tested it a few moments ago and it paused when I unplugged the headphones.

I've noticed that pirated (I mean...borrowed) music tends not to pause when I pull my headphones out. That makes me wonder if maybe there's something in the meta data or embedded in the music that lets it do this.

I still have this feature, you could always do a restore to get the features back. I also noticed that installing iPod linux effected the ipod firmware. It actually broke the volume limiter. Pretty handy, although I must admit I usually use the manual limiter to protect my headphones and ears.

I found that if the cord is pulled out too quickly then it might not pause

And people wonder why they can never outdo the iPod. You can clone the look and feel all day long, but it's the little features like this that make the magic.

Well, that feature has caused problems for me before. If your headphone has a faulty cable it'll pause every few seconds. ;)

My nano pauses. I have noticed that it sometimes doesn't when it is pulled very quickly.

Although my iPod is out of date 'Pod I noticed that if you unplug the headphones once plug them back in again and then unplug them again it works everytime no matter what. For whatever reason it doesn't always pause for me the first time even on the same song sometimes it will sometimes it won't and I know it's not just my iPod because I've had my iPod replace three times (first I dropped it, second hard drive failed for no apparent reason, third just resently to have the battery replace just before AppleCare expired (so now I have another 90 days extended to my warrenty!).

i love when stuff like that happens. i had a 3rd gen ipod 20GB and the battery started to go on it so i had it replaced under best buy warranty, then it came back scratched, then it came back chipped. this was about a week after the 5G video was announced. they determined that they would just give me a new one since they thought the hard drive was going to go soon. i ended up getting a 60GB 5G and another 3 year warranty at no extra cost.
