New hard drive for Dual G5 Powermac

Recommended Posts

hi there,

i'm shortly going to need some more HD space in my machine and would like to fit a new HD into the second bay of my mac. I know i need a Serial ATA drive and i'm looking at 7200rpm and a capacity of 250-350GB.

i've seen this:

does anyone have any experience with seagate drives, would they recommend them, it seems pretty good value to me.

also when i fit the drive to i need to format it in anyway-i would only be using it for backups.

cheers

ya. you would not go wrong to buy a seagate. flawless for 6 years on the G4 tower. i carbon copy to it, too, so it gets a lot of write and rewrite, yet it still has not ONE bad block

I know Maxtor Diamondbacks are great drives, I can't vouch for Seagate, but I've never heard anything bad about them. just don't get a Toshiba or Hitachi.

I just bought one of those Seagate 320gig drives for my PC. It's really, really fast and runs several degrees C cooler than the Maxtor it replaced. I'm thinking of buying another to put into my G5 PowerMac.
